Rental of a whole or partial residence to visitors for less than a month is commonly known as a Short Term Rental (STR). The legal term in Wisconsin is a Tourist Rooming House (TRH). Wisconsin allows the rental of one to four sleeping accommodations, which can be rooms of a home or an entire home. All Village of West Milwaukee TRHs must be licensed through the West Allis Health Department and inspected annually to verify the operation meets all requirements of Wisconsin law related to general public health.

The Village of West Milwaukee adopted Chapter 14, Section 530-538, of the Municipal Code requiring all non-owner occupied and all commercial property owners to register ownership contact information in the Clerk’s Office. If the owner’s residence is the listed property, single, two- and three-family properties are exempt. The contact information collected is used to notify those that have care and control of the property when there are building code violations. In January 2019, the Milwaukee Brewers announced a naming rights deal with American Family Insurance. The future name and branding elements for the stadium have not been announced, but the name of Miller Park stadium will be changing with the 2021 baseball season. Following this change, the Village of West Milwaukee is considering a street name change for Miller Park Way. We will not be looking at a name with a direct tie to current or future naming rights of the stadium, but rather something that will offer a unique identity to this major commercial thoroughfare.
Understanding that this change will affect businesses along Miller Park Way and residents of West Milwaukee, we have chosen to inform you as early as possible about the potential change. An eventual street name has not yet been decided, and we wish to include you in the process of deciding the name.
