Fire inspections are done twice yearly. The first inspections are completed January 1 to June 30 and the second are completed July 1 to December 31.

West Milwaukee is very concerned about the negative impact of graffiti on the community. Section 14-436 of the Municipal Code requires the owner of a property to remove or cover up any graffiti damage within 30 days. Although removal can be time consuming and create a financial burden, studies have shown that failure to cover-up graffiti in a timely fashion will generally result in an "explosion" of additional graffiti in the surrounding area. Police officers and the Village's property maintenance inspector share the responsibility for the prevention and elimination of graffiti, while the property maintenance inspector works with property owners on options for removal.
