The former Hotpoint Appliance Manufacturing Facility has a long and storied history in West Milwaukee. The facility dates back to pre-World War II and provided employment for tens of thousands of workers during its operation.  The facility closed in 1991 and has remained vacant since that time.

Work on the redevelopment of the former Hotpoint Appliance Facility property is proceeding in accordance with the plan approved by the Village of West Milwaukee Board of Trustees.  Work completed to date includes the demolition of approximately 600,000 square feet of old, obsolete buildings including the former manufacturing and warehouse facilities; the environmental clean up of ground water and industrial contaminations; and grading and various site improvements.

maltPick n' Save Food Store and Menard’s Home Improvement opened in the summer 2007.  The Village of West Milwaukee completed various Miller Park Way improvements to better facilitate and manage increased traffic volumes anticipated to occur because of this redevelopment.  These improvements included median modifications, traffic signal installations and various sanitary sewer and storm sewer improvements.

The multi-tenant building at the front of the development has confirmed Summit Credit Union,  Great Clips, Verizon Wireless, and Snap Fitness as tenants.

The old Kurth site (across the street from Hotpoint)  located on the south east side of Miller Park Way is home to Rocky Rococo Pizza,  CITI-Financial, US Cellular, Office Max, Firestone and Sonic.  Gordon Food Service (GFS) located next to Firestone held their grand opening in October, 2011.

Approvals are in the process for a new Dunkin Donuts located between the GFS Marketplace and Firestone.

A new 149,000 foot Walmart is planned on the old Wisconsin Steel/Sentry Store site (41st Greenfield Avenue). Preliminary demolition has started on the site.

The new Cermak Fresh Market construction is underway. This new family owned grocery store will be located next to the Target. It is planned to be almost 60,000 square feet with the grand opening expected in early April.
