Collective Election Information
The Village of West Milwaukee Clerk’s Office coordinates elections for all Village of West Milwaukee elected officials: the Village President, six Village Trustees and the Municipal Judge. The President and Trustees are elected to three-year terms and the Municipal Judge is a four-year term.
Voter Photo ID Required
You must show an acceptable photo ID to receive a ballot for all elections. Visit the Bring It to the Ballot website.
Free State ID Cards for People without Birth Certificates
The Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles will help people get a free state ID card or document that can be used for voting after just one visit to the DMV, even if they don’t have a birth certificate or other documentation. Click here to learn more.
MyVote
At myvote.wi.gov, you can register to vote, check your voter registration status, find your polling place, see what’s on your ballot, update your name or address, request an absentee ballot (military and permanent overseas voters only), and check provisional ballot status.
Voter Registration and Election Participation Data
BADGER Voters is a website offered by the Wisconsin Elections Commission designed to allow users to request, receive a quote, purchase, and download Wisconsin voter registration and election participation data from the Statewide Voter Registration System. Users can complete this entire process online and independently 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

Election Schedule/Purpose
Spring Primary: The nonpartisan primary held the 3rd Tuesday in February to nominate nonpartisan candidates to be voted for at the spring election.
Spring Election: The election held on the first Tuesday in April to elect judicial, educational and municipal officers and nonpartisan county officers and to express preferences for the person to be the presidential candidate for each party in a year in which electors for president and vice president are to be elected.
Fall Partisan Primary: The primary held the 2nd Tuesday in August to nominate candidates to be voted for at the general election, and to determine which candidates for state offices other than district attorney may participate in the Wisconsin election campaign fund.
General Election: The election held in even-numbered years on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November to elect United States senators, representatives in congress, presidential electors, state senators, representatives to the assembly, district attorneys, state officers other than the state superintendent and judicial officers, and county officers other than supervisors and county executives.
Election Inspectors (Poll Workers)
Election Inspectors are essential to conduct open, accurate and fair elections. Their priority is to ensure every eligible voter can exercise their right to vote by following Election Day procedures and providing excellent customer service to voters.
The Village of West Milwaukee is in need of bilingual (fluent in English/Spanish speaking) poll workers.
- Qualifications
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Be 18 years old (except qualified high school student poll workers)
- Be a resident of Milwaukee County
- Never have been convicted of a felony and not otherwise disqualified from voting
- Be able to read and write fluently in the English language
- Not be a candidate for any office to be voted on at the polling place at that election.
Pay
Election Inspectors receive $135 for working a full Election Day.
In order to receive payment, the appropriate paperwork must be completed.
*New Election Inspectors are pending Village Board approval.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Check-in Registered Voters
- Register Eligible Voters
- Monitor Voting and Ballot Marking Equipment
- Assist and Guide Voters
- Assist Chief Inspector as needed
Experience, Skills, and Abilities
- Skills – Must possess excellent customer service skills. Strong clerical and analytical skills. Detail oriented. Active listener. Must possess good oral communication skills.
- Abilities – Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Training Requirement
Election inspectors are required to attend a 2–3-hour training class every two years.
